In the near future, USA will be #3 behind China and India. No surprise for me. I knew it was over in 1998 When I read Intel was building a research center in Bejing.
Why do so many people speak english throughout the world? For many years, research and innovation was happening mostly in the US. The research papers on tech, medicine, and so much more were written in english. Most airplanes, autos, household gadgets were all made in the US with few manuals translated. There's a lot more, but it would be a good idea to teach your children mandarin.
